(Yes, it won Oscars but technicolor was new! 😀 )īut it’s Webber’s 2004 theatrical version which brought Phantom of the Opera to the general public. If you’ve read Le Fantôme de l’Opéra by Gaston Leroux and seen the Broadway stage production or any of the movies-1925, 1943, 2004-you know none of the remakes closely adhere to the original. Together… well, you’d probably lock us in a closet.
